INTRODUCTION TO 6^th CHINA INTERNATIONAL MACHINERY & ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS EXPOSITION

The 6TH CHINA INTERNATIONAL MACHINERY AND ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS EXPOSITION (referred to as “CWME”) was held on 23~26 September 2005 in Wuhan, China. At the same time of CWME, the 7th Wuhan Economic and Trade Fair and the 4th Supplier-Purchaser Conference for “Fortune 500” were held.

CWME, as an international and professional exhibition of state level approved by the State Council, jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Hubei Provincial People’s Government and Wuhan Municipal People’s Government, and jointly supported by China Machinery Industry Union, China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products and China Export-import Bank, was a key exposition of machinery and electronic product supported by the state. Since 2000 CWME has been crowned with success for the past five sessions.

CWME is an integration of exposition, trade talk, investment and cooperation, transnational sourcing and special seminar, committing to exhibition of advanced machinery and electronic products, new high-tech popularization, machinery and electronic product export and investment promotion, which attracted 700+ manufacturers from 50+ countries and regions, and 2,000+ machinery and electronic enterprises in China and 150,000+ professional spectators in Wuhan for negotiation and sharing of opportunities and achievement in trade and investment in the past five years. The 5th “CWME” covered an exhibition area as much as 60,000m2, attracted 661 exhibitors, 212 of which were from abroad, attracted 71,000 professional spectators, 2,140 overseas professional businessmen and investors, 52 businesses were amongst “Fortune 500”. 30+China Region President of large multinational corporations and other top decision-makers were invited to Wuhan.

CWME, Wuhan Economic and Trade Fair and Transnational Supplier-Purchaser Conference surged a new climax of opening to the outside world through win-win combination，creating opportunity for each other and sharing resources, which highlighted product presentation, trade and communication function, deepened connotation of investment promotion, expanded transnational sourcing, promoted development and machinery and electronic industry and export of machinery and electronic product of Wuhan, Hubei or even West and Central China, and built an important platform for international sourcing, investment promotion and opening to the outside world, as established in such a basic tenet as “rebuilding China’s traditional machinery and electronic industry with new high-tech and international state-of-the-art technology, and expediting uplift of integrative quality and international competitive power of China’s machinery and electronic industry”.

With the implementation of Central China emerging strategy, capital from home and abroad focused on Wuhan, and construction of Wuhan City Circle promoted by CPC Hubei Province and Hubei Provincial People’s Government, worldwide eyes were focusing on Central China, and businessmen at home and abroad paid more attention to Wuhan, a hot land with geographical advantage located in Central China. Wuhan supported by modern manufacturing made every effort to seize such a golden historical opportunity, widely invited machinery and electronics companies, professional purchasers and multinational corporations from abroad to attend CWME, exhibit, negotiate and purchase machinery and electronics commodities; invited cities from Wuhan City Circle to introduce their investment environment and recommend investment project on CWME for the purpose of advantage complementation and joint development; invited senior governmental officials, business executive officers, experts and scholars to held summit forum, policy release and dialogue. China Wuhan International Tourist Festival held on that occasion presented colorful activities in front of friends from all over the world.
