INTRODUCTION TO 1^ST CHINA INTERNATIONAL MACHINERY & ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS EXPOSITION

The First CHINA INTERNATIONAL MACHINERY AND ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS EXPOSITION, held on 23~26 September 2000 in Wuhan Central China International Exposition Center, was consummated under the kind support of the state leaders, competent ministries under the State Council and leaders from CPC Hubei Provincial Committee and Hubei Provincial Government as well as from CPC Wuhan Municipal Committee and Wuhan Municipal Government, with the energetic drive of news media and the enthusiastic care and active participation of people from all walks of life, fulfilled the goal of “exhibiting international standard of machinery and electronic product and creating Wuhan convention and exhibition brand” and was generally praised by all participating businessmen from home and abroad. The first CWME achieved a lot in virtue of accurate orientation, characteristic brilliance, leadership recognition and concerted effort by all people from Wuhan City. The achievement including: 1. High level exhibitors: of all 416 exhibitors 127 accounting for 29% are business from abroad, and 40% exhibitors are overseas and foreign-related businesses; 2. Very popular exhibition: there were 7,000+ professional merchants, 40% of which were foreign merchants, and 100,000+ people involved in partnership negotiation, both broke the record in the history of Wuhan Convention and Exhibition; 3. Transaction value above anticipation: total transaction value in CWME made a breakthrough of RMB 3.2billion; 4. Repeated occurrence of climax on exposition and convention. The organization committee held Presentation of Machinery and Equipment Import-Export of China, Symposium of Central China Development and Multinational Corporation Investment Strategy, New High-Tech Result and Production Introduction, Key Project Recommendation, Wuhan · Optics Valley of China Forum, Export Recommendation, Technology Import and Exchange, and Banking Service Recommendation totaling 15 special activities, using such a popular stage of CWME with ardent atmosphere and substantial effect. The first CWME is of great significance for promoting export of machinery and electronic product, improving product quality and enhancing international competitive edge of Wuhan, West and Central China, or even all over China.
